Study Identifies Three Metabolites That Can be Used as Coffee Biomarkers | Health And Medicine

Researchers from the Leibniz Institute for Food Systems Biology at the Technical University of Munich (LSB) have identified three metabolites that could serve as biomarkers for individual coffee consumption. These metabolites are degradation products developed during coffee roasting, and biomarkers are more reliable than self-reports in terms of accurate amounts of consumed coffee. The results of the study were published in Food Chemistry.

The researchers examined the urine samples of six peopl

Hibiscus Treatments to Minimize Alzheimer's Disease Symptoms | Neuroscience

Previous research has shown that hibiscus can boost the immune system, control blood pressure, and reduce body weight. Now, a new study highlights how a flavonoid found in hibiscus called gossypetin can help fight Alzheimer’s disease (AD). A study published in Alzheimer’s Research and Therapy showed that gossypetin protects against AD by enhancing microglial Aβ phagocytosis (the removal of dead or dying neurons).

Gossypetin activates an immune response in which microglia scavenge amyloid-beta (

Drinking Tea Shown to Reduce Diabetes | Health And Medicine

Researchers have discovered that drinking at least four cups of tea per day is associated with a 17% lower risk of type 2 diabetes. The findings were presented at the 2022 European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting in Stockholm. The study also found that drinking specific types of tea was specifically linked to a reduced risk. Black, green and Oolong tea are three specific teas that contain specific properties that prevent diabetes.

The researchers conducted a cohort s
